Apple TV Cancels Dramedy "Palm Royale" – Users Are Angry
Apple usually ensures series conclusions, but not with \"Palm Royale\". It ends after a plot twist, leaving viewers hanging.

It is extremely unpleasant for viewers when a broadcaster or streaming service decides to end a series before all plotlines have been resolved in the context of a finale or a final season. Cliffhangers should actually only exist if it is clear that it will continue. So far, Apple has mostly set a good example: Shows running on Apple TV were usually brought to a solid conclusion, even if the iPhone company did not want to order further episodes. What has happened, however, are long waiting times for new seasons, for example with "Severance". But now Apple is really leaving its customers hanging with a much-praised dramedy show.
Many Nominations
According to industry media, "Palm Royale" is being canceled "just like that", even though the second season ended with many questions. As Variety writes, this has already been confirmed – although an announcement from Apple is still missing.

Apple released "Palm Royale", starring Kristen Wiig, in the spring of 2024 and immediately commissioned a second season in the summer, even though only 10 episodes were initially planned. The second season with another 10 episodes ran from November 2025 to January 2026. Apple always releases shows weekly and not for "binging" all at once, as is known from Netflix.
Plot Twist Without Further Season
"Palm Royale" was considered a critic's darling, but only had a rating of 60 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The show received a total of 35 nominations for awards such as the Emmys, Critics' Choice Award, and Actor Awards. The series was set in Palm Beach in the sixties and was based on a novel from 2018.
The finale of "Palm Royale" ended with a plot twist that would have provided plenty of material for the upcoming season 3. Fans of the show now have to imagine this themselves. It is unclear why Apple abruptly canceled the series. There are reports that it was very expensive to produce. The streaming market is currently undergoing a transformation after Netflix withdrew from the possible acquisition of Warner Brothers.
