Tip: Integrate Matter accessories without QR code into HomeKit
HomeKit accessories always come with a QR code for quick scanning. This is not always the case with Matter devices. Here's how to do it anyway.
Examples of Matter codes: Sometimes you also have to type in the long number.

I have a smart lock from Nuki that I would like to integrate into my HomeKit network. I remember that there was a card with a Matter code in the packaging, but I threw it away. There is a QR code printed inside the Smart Lock Pro 5th generation, but the Home app doesn't accept it.
According to the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), which manages the standard, Matter codes can also be present on devices without a QR code.
This has not been available from Apple in this form for many years, but even at the beginning of HomeKit, you had to type in the code when integrating a device into an Apple Home. This is also the case with your Smart Lock Pro: The QR code inside the lock is not intended for Matter, it seems to serve only internal purposes.

However, the Matter code is still present on the Smart Lock Pro 5th generation: it is a 21-digit number located below the Matter logo. Unfortunately, you cannot scan this when you want to integrate the lock into your smart home via the Home app, but must painstakingly type it in.

You can do this by selecting "Show more options..." in the scan dialog, then tapping "My device is not listed here", and finally tapping "Enter code" under "Enter configuration code". This will open a number dialog where you have to type in the digits step by step. Alternatively, you can photograph the code, copy it from the photo app (using the integrated OCR text recognition) and then paste it. However, check that the code is correct.
After that, the setup process in Home should continue as normal. Nuki is not the only provider that prints Matter codes as numbers on its products. As mentioned, this is officially allowed, even if it is not user-friendly. The fact that a QR code, which is not related to this, is displayed directly below the Matter code is even more confusing.
