Google plans to release a native version of Chrome for ARM64 Linux devices for Linux in the second quarter of 2026. This closes a gap that users of the platform have been complaining about for years: Although the open-source Chromium browser has long been available for ARM64 Linux, the proprietary Google features have been missing until now.
According to the Chromium blog, the launch marks "a major milestone in our commitment to the Linux community and the Arm ecosystem." Chrome for ARM64 Linux will include all Google-specific features that Chromium lacks: account synchronization for bookmarks, history, and tabs, direct access to the Chrome Web Store without going through developer settings, integrated website translation, and Google Pay with autofill. It also includes security features like Enhanced Protection in Safe Browsing, which use AI to protect against phishing and malware, as well as the Google Password Manager with breach monitoring.
Google already made Chrome natively available for ARM-based Macs in 2020 and for ARM-Windows in 2024. Linux was the last major platform without native ARM64 support. Installation will be possible via chrome.com/download.

Anyone who wants to use a full-fledged browser on ARM64 Linux right now can use Firefox: Mozilla has been offering its open-source browser with native ARM64 Linux builds since 2025. Microsoft Edge, on the other hand, still does not officially support ARM64 Linux; only x86_64 builds are available for Linux.
