For several years now, the retro look has been very “in” in IT. With its “Classic LS” range, Apple accessory specialist Spigen has now launched various iPhone and AirPods peripherals that are based on the design of classic Macintosh computers – specifically: Lisa and the original Mac alias 128K. They are designed in the typical beige-grey of the early eighties and are already available via Amazon.

Available are, for example, two cases for iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, which are reminiscent of the classic Mac from the back and have nice little details like a “Hello” button on the side that, according to the manufacturer, provides tactile feedback. For the price of just under 36 euros, there is also MagSafe compatibility. A matching lanyard is also offered, which currently costs just under 15 euros.

For those who want to carry credit cards, there is also a card wallet in the same design with MagSafe for 26 euros. However, it only holds three cards. On the other hand, the wallet can also be used with iPhone 15, 16, and Google's Pixelsnap devices.

Arguably the most cleverly designed “Classic LS” model is a case for third-generation AirPods Pro devices. It is designed in the style of classic Apple Macintosh mice, comes with a hand strap (which sits where the “cable” would plug in) and has a snap closure. The latter should be very helpful for users whose AirPods have fallen out before – then the caseless housing tends to open and let the earbuds fall out. At 28 euros, however, the case is unfortunately not a bargain. On the other hand, the charging LED and USB-C port remain accessible, as is usual with such cases. So you don't have to take the AirPods out to supply them with power.

All new Spigen accessory products are available for immediate delivery. A crossbody strap, like the one Apple offers, is currently not (yet?) available as a “Classic LS” variant. How durable the products are remains to be seen in a test. However, Spigen has a decent reputation among accessory providers. The design was apparently not licensed by Apple – Spigen itself states on its Amazon store page that it is only “inspired”.
