Studio Display XDR: Apple significantly reduces price with VESA mount
The prices for the complex tilt- and height-adjustable stand for Apple's new screen were just as high as for the simple VESA mount. That is changing.

Apple has eliminated an injustice with the Studio Display XDR without further announcement. While previously you paid the same for both the VESA and the stand variants, the price for the former is now significantly lower: by a hefty 400 Euros, as Apple shows on its homepage. This makes the significant difference between the two variants visible. Users who have already purchased should try to get a return or credit from their dealer.
New top model with incomprehensible pricing
The Studio Display XDR is Apple's new top monitor with a 120 Hz refresh rate, Adaptive Sync, up to 2000 cd/m² peak brightness, and a large DCI-P3 color space. It replaces the outdated Pro Display XDR, but only has 27 instead of 32 inches with a 5K instead of 6K resolution. Previously, Apple made no distinction between the VESA mount variant and the one with a tilt- and height-adjustable stand – both cost 3499 Euros (price at Apple).
This wasn't really logical: While the stand consists of complex mechanics and uses significantly more material, Apple manufactures the VESA mount from a few, albeit sturdy, sheet metal parts that are screwed to the housing. Following criticism of the pricing policy, the company changed its marketing tactics. The VESA mount variant of the Pro Display XDR now costs significantly less at 3099 Euros.
Apple's expensive stands
The price reduction also applies to the optionally available nano-texture coating, an anti-reflective glass for environments with bright lights, or the demand for even more precise colors. The version with a stand still costs 3799 Euros here, while you pay 3399 Euros with a VESA mount. Thus, there is also a 400 Euro difference here.
For the smaller variant of the Studio Display XDR, the Studio Display 2026, the tilt- and height-adjustable stand is not included as standard. It costs an additional 400 Euros compared to a stand that is only tilt-adjustable. The latter variant is the same price as an alternatively available VESA version. With the Pro Display XDR, the manufacturer once supplied no stand at all – Apple wanted over 1000 Euros extra for it. The expensive stand disappeared from the market along with the Pro Display XDR.
