Apple has updated a whole range of its creative programs, both the versions within the Creator Studio subscription package and the purchase variants that are still available. Particularly interesting is Pixelmator Pro, which was actually expected to be only supported by Apple with the rental version with updates. But it's also clear: Users are now in the middle of version chaos. If, in addition to the purchase variants of the apps, which have been on many users' SSDs for years, the Creator Studio versions are now also present, each app appears twice with its own icon – and is counted differently.

Pixelmator, the image editor acquired by the Pixelmator Team, now exists in version 3.8 (Purchase version, 60 Euros) and 4.2 (Creator Studio, 12.99 Euros per month). Both versions can handle RAW images from new cameras (Sony A7V, Fujifilm GFX 100S II and GFX 100RF), support High-Efficiency and High-Efficiency-Star formats from the Nikon Z5II and Z50II, as well as high-resolution RAW images from the Panasonic DC-SR1M2.

Only the rental version improves SVG compatibility with Adobe Illustrator and offers a new comparison mode for effects and color adjustments. Adjusting the tool sidebar also remains exclusive to renters. The iPad variant, offered only as part of Creator Studio, gets new keyboard shortcuts. Finally, Apple is expanding its templates to include product mockups with current iPhones, among other things; these are also not available for the purchase version of Pixelmator Pro.

Bugfix updates are also still available for Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro (version 12.2 each), Final Cut Camera, Motion, Mainstage, and Compressor. Apple has also updated Numbers, Keynote, and Pages. Logic Pro receives a new preview for Dolby Atmos mixes and a new audio package called Step Reflex Pack with modern garage dance music. For iCloud products, Apple has refrained from updating the older, still functional variants (recognizable by the old icon).

These remain at version 14.5; starting them displays the message that the apps could be “deleted.” Only the new variants come with additional features for a subscription fee as part of Creator Studio, and Apple wants them to be used.
