New "Ultra" devices from Apple in the pipeline: Notebook and mobile phone
By autumn, according to a report, Apple will not only have Ultra chips and Ultra watches, but also Ultra devices – if nothing gets in the way.

Daring more “Ultra”: After chips like the M3 Ultra or the Apple Watch Ultra computer watch, Apple wants to extend its term for high-end hardware to iPhones and MacBooks. However, it shouldn't stop there, according to a report by the American Macworld, which refers to insiders. iPads are also said to receive the new branding. Apple's goal is to differentiate the hardware technically and in terms of price from existing products. This also means that you have to reach deep (er) into your wallet for it.
Foldable and OLED touchscreen Mac
The first Ultra product in the smartphone range is the iPhone Ultra. This is allegedly what Apple wants to call its first foldable. The foldable smartphone is said to cost over 2000 US dollars and is expected to be unveiled in September as the top model this year alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. Delivery is planned for autumn, albeit initially in smaller quantities.

The second Ultra device is said to be the MacBook Ultra. This is the company's first notebook model with an OLED screen and touch control. However, it remains unclear whether delivery will be possible this year. Like many other companies, Apple is struggling with the current chip crisis. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman recently assumed that the first will be available by the end of the year to January 2027. It remains unclear whether Apple will also postpone the presentation or stick to the October date. MacBook Pro models are expected to remain available; it is unclear whether there will be a refresh this year. The models were only recently updated to M5, so they could remain in the program until 2027.
Foldable iPad and AirPods with camera
According to Macworld, further Ultra models include a new iPad (possibly foldable), which is considered a “priority” by Apple's next CEO, John Ternus. However, 2028 is considered a more likely date than 2027. Apple is also working on new AirPods with integrated camera for AI and gesture control. The Ultra designation is also conceivable here to differentiate the models from the AirPods Pro, which will continue to be offered.
For users, all of this is becoming increasingly confusing: they now have to distinguish between Pro, Max, and Ultra. Even now, there are duplicate designations, for example with the MacBook Pro M5 Pro. A MacBook Ultra would also not come with the Ultra chips reserved for the Mac Studio (if only due to power consumption), but with M6 Max and M6 Pro – i.e., as “MacBook Ultra M6 Pro” or “MacBook Ultra M6 Max.”
