Cybersecurity is also an important topic for macOS and iOS users – because, despite contrary clichés, Apple devices are also regularly attacked. The non-profit organization Objective-See is committed to imparting knowledge and tools that make using Macs, iPhones, and the like safer. It was founded by Andy Rozenberg and well-known security expert Patrick Wardle, who has been dealing with the topic for years and is known, among other things, as the author of various security tools. Anyone who wants to get involved with Objective-See can, among other things, engage at regularly held conferences. The latest edition of “Objective for the We” is now coming to Germany for the first time. From July 30 to 31, Berlin is the event location.
Talks, trainings, and more, especially for security beginners
The fourth edition of OFTW is being carried out in cooperation with the Potsdam-based Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI, founded by the SAP co-founder) and is intended to bring together “some of the world's top Apple security researchers” in one place in the capital.
Free lectures and seminars are planned, which are aimed particularly at young talent, such as cybersecurity students or young security researchers who are just entering the scene. Objective-See promises “an invaluable opportunity for learning and networking.”

OFTW is traditionally only accessible by invitation; the registration process is currently underway. Interested parties who meet the requirements can apply until June 26 inclusive. On July 30, there will be training sessions and an "off-site event" where participants can get to know each other better. The following day, various talks and a panel discussion are planned. OFTW is traditionally free.
Among the already announced speakers are, in addition to Wardle himself, Nils Rollshausen (Secure Mobile Networking Lab, TU Darmstadt), Jiska Classen (HPI), and Matthias Frielingsdorf (iVerify). However, more are likely to be added. Wardle will give an introduction to Mac malware analysis; among other things, Classen will talk about the intrusion into iOS apps, and BIagio Montaruli will show how AI can help in Apple malware detection.
