macOS 27: Apple reportedly planning design changes
The innovations in the next version of the Mac operating system are rather minor. According to a report, however, Apple is planning important clean-up work.

Observers expect comparatively few changes from macOS 27, just as from iOS 27. Apple will use the updates expected in the fall to stabilize the operating systems. According to a new report, however, Mac users can look forward to Apple also fixing design inconsistencies. Bloomberg reported on Sunday that criticisms of the Liquid Glass look will supposedly be addressed.
“Slight Redesign”
Transparency effects and shadows that make text harder to read will supposedly be mitigated. This applies, for example, to the Control Center, Finder, and apps with sidebars and long lists. Apple will also supposedly address interface confusion due to new textures. Internally, the measures are described as a “slight redesign.”

However, liquid glass itself will not be removed but “refined.” The plan is supposedly to finally make the glassy look under macOS appear as Apple's designers originally intended. According to Bloomberg, the implementation in macOS 26 was not fully completed. This was due to the software engineering team. Now, therefore, polishing is required.
Further Improvements in macOS 27
In addition to adjustments to liquid glass, which will hopefully make the design more consistent again, various other clean-up tasks are planned. These include bug fixes as well as performance improvements and “upgrades to battery life,” according to Bloomberg. Finally, more artificial intelligence is supposed to come to the Mac.
macOS 27 will include the improved Siri, which has been repeatedly postponed, and supposedly a real chatbot. Apple is using Google's Gemini to improve its foundation models. So far, however, there is no sign of this; the hope that there could be initial optimizations with macOS 26 (as well as iOS 26 and iPadOS 26) has so far not materialized. macOS 26.5, which is expected in the coming days, comes with the old Apple Intelligence and unchanged Siri voice assistant. Apple will present the new operating systems at the WWDC 2026 developer conference in early June. So it won't be long until hard facts are available.
