Enterprise users: This is important in macOS 25.6
Apple has published details on bug fixes and other optimizations in the latest Tahoe incarnation, intended for corporate clients and admins.

As part of macOS 26.5, Apple has also provided various functions for administrators and enterprise users – or rather, made necessary bug fixes for business operations. The company has since provided a corresponding information document. Admins and MDM managers should read it as soon as possible.
Black screen and crash errors
Unlike its predecessor macOS 26.4.1, where Apple only fixed problems with 802.1X WLANs that occurred on certain machines with M5 processors and active content filters, the fixes relevant to companies in macOS 26.5 are more extensive. For example, Macs would start with a black screen after a software update – Apple left it open whether this only affected managed systems or all computers.

Furthermore, mounting SMB shares caused system-wide restarts, as did the use of “some” content filter extensions on MacBook Air M5 and MacBook Pro M5 Pro and M5 Max. If companies used smart cards to log in to their Macs, the latter could show password errors despite successful login. Finally, X11 apps using XQuartz (which should occur very rarely) now display correct windows again when their size is changed.
Certificate problems and SMB without Active Directory
Apple has also fixed an error where root and intermediate certificates were not updated when renewing the enrollment of an MDM device. The latest innovation concerns SMB connections on Macs without an Active Directory connection: DNS SRV lookups are now performed for the nsmb.conf configured addresses _ldap._tcp.<serverName> and _gc._tcp.<serverName>. If domain controllers are found, the client attempts to log in to them sequentially. If this fails, the client uses the original server name as a fallback.
The installation of macOS 26.5 should also be done quickly because, as usual, Apple has fixed numerous security problems, some of which can also be exploited remotely. In total, there are over 50 bugs documented in detail plus more than two dozen vulnerabilities that Apple does not describe further.
