Swappie starts selling refurbished MacBooks
The Finnish buyer and seller of used Apple products is expanding its business to include Macs.

Swappie, an e-commerce provider specializing in the buying and selling of used Apple products, plans to offer Macs in addition to iPhones, iPads, and AirPods in the future. The corresponding offer from the Finns is expected to go online this week, the company announced. Initially, Swappie will only offer (and buy) MacBooks. Initially, these will be the 13-inch Air models and the 13- and 14-inch Pro machines. There will be no more Intel machines; instead, only Apple Silicon Macs with M1 to M4, but not the latest variants with M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max.
Four quality levels, additional warranty
The MacBooks will be offered with a 30-day return policy and a total of three years of “Swappie Warranty” offered. It is intended to cover “technical and mechanical” defects and also provides a replacement device if a repair is no longer possible. However, battery wear is only covered for 12 months. In addition, as usual, there is the statutory warranty of 24 months for defects.

Swappie has not yet announced prices. For Apple devices, the company always sells several quality levels. When components are replaced, this means they do not always have to be from Apple. For MacBooks, there are the “Premium” (battery with 95 percent capacity plus option for a new battery), “Excellent” (hardly any signs of use), “Very Good” (“slight, honest signs of use”), and “Fair” (visible scratches and small dents) levels. Swappie wants to “professionally test” the machines beforehand so that no problems occur. The categories refer to the optical condition but not to the internal components.
Not the only provider
Swappie is not the only seller of used Macs. Apple itself has been offering returned and refurbished devices in its own “Refurb Store” for years, but prices here are often not low, especially when checking new prices in free trade. In return, you get Apple's new product warranty.
