iPad Pro bending tests: This is how quickly Apple's thinnest product breaks
It came as it had to: The first bending tests with the iPad Pro M4 have been published on YouTube. They didn't go too badly for Apple.
Will it bend? With quite a lot of force, yes.

At the presentation of the iPad Pro M4, Apple repeatedly emphasized how thin the hardware is. Even the slim iPod nano from 2012 was beaten. Nevertheless, the tablet is very stable thanks to a revised internal structure. Well, the new iPad has been on sale since Wednesday and it was only a matter of (short) time before the first YouTubers took Apple at its word and verified this: The first bend tests are here.
Black magic on structural integrity?
Apple probably also knew that they were coming. But a "Bendgate 3.0" will probably not happen: The new professional iPad is actually amazingly resistant to bending. The well-known hardware tormentor Zack Nelson from JerryRigEverything made the start. In his opinion, the device held up surprisingly well. He sees "a suspicious level of structural integrity that borders on black magic". Nevertheless, the device eventually managed to break, and the screen glass popped off. Vertical pressure is more problematic, however, with the breakage apparently originating from the USB-C port.

There was praise for Apple's new "cowling" of the motherboard plus an integrated "spine" that runs down the entire iPad Pro M4. This ensures that it is well protected, according to a second bend tester, YouTuber Sam Kohl. MobileReviewsEh also uses professional tools to bend the iPad Pro M4. The complete collapse occurred after almost 30 kilograms with pressure applied in the middle. Bending attempts on the sides remain problematic, as it is much easier here. Nevertheless, all testers believe that the new iPad should survive everyday use without a case - despite its thinness.
New hardware, new coating
The iPad Pro M4 costs at least 1199 euros in the 11-inch version. This is slightly thicker than the 13-inch model, which costs at least 1549 euros. The chassis is made of aluminum and is offered in the colors silver and "space black". In addition to the M4, Apple is also installing a larger OLED display in the new tablets for the first time - previously only available in the iPhone and Apple Watch.
For the 1 TByte and 2 TByte models, Apple also offers the so-called nano-textured glass for an additional charge, which is intended to reduce reflections. It can be assumed that this coating will also be subjected to extensive destruction tests.
