Camera specialist Insta360 has introduced a new iPhone mount for photographers and videographers that combines two products: A mobile gimbal as well as a DockKit-compatible stand. This allows you to use both iOS-integrated functions and Insta360's proprietary subject tracking. The hardware called Flow Pro is even slightly cheaper than Belkin's pure DockKit solution Auto-Tracking Stand Pro.
360 degrees plus three-axis gimbal
DockKit is an Apple API that allows apps to control compatible iPhone stands. This can be used to record panoramas, training videos or time-lapse recordings. Tracking is supported by Apple's own camera app as well as various third-party applications. At the same time, the Flow Pro can also use Insta360's own AI-supported tracking algorithm called Deep Track 3.0. The iPhone can be used with 360 degrees and three-axis stabilization, which is made possible by the integrated gimbal.
A selfie stick is also built in. The integrated 2900 mAh battery is said to last around ten hours, with a charging time of two hours. The battery can also be used as a power bank. The mount is connected to the iPhone via Bluetooth 5.0 and is activated via NFC, as with other DockKit devices. The gimbal has four standard modes: Auto, Follow, Pan Follow and FPV (First Person View). With the latter, it should be possible to generate drone-like recordings.

Animal tracking, various accessories
An integrated accessory shoe allows a microphone to be attached. The Flow Pro can be unfolded for set-up and then operates as a DockKit device. The 360-degree recording is horizontal. "No restrictions, no interruptions and complete freedom to move around the room," writes Insta360. Thanks to the mechanical stabilization, recordings should be significantly more blur-free than with the iPhone alone. AI tracking now also supports dogs, cats and horses.

The Flow Pro from Insta360 costs 159 euros. The scope of delivery includes a magnetic smartphone clamp, USB-C charging cable, cover for the handle and a protective case. Further accessories are to be delivered later, including a spotlight and an additional mount. The gimbal weighs 366 grams, the clamp alone 32 grams. For comparison: Belkin wants 180 euros for the Auto-Tracking Stand Pro (recommended retail price).
