Instagram: Users can add music to their profile
"Gen Y" and previous generations will probably feel reminded of MySpace when they see a new Instagram function: Profile Gets Music.

A new function on Instagram brings back memories of the early social media age. Users can now place songs on their profile page. The "profile song" feature is strongly reminiscent of a function on MySpace – a platform that peaked around 15 years ago.
Instagram's latest feature allows users to add a song to their profile by tapping "Edit Profile" in their profile section and then "Music". There they can select a song and set a 30-second snippet of it.
This short excerpt then appears directly under the user's Instagram biography. Unlike MySpace, however, the song is not played automatically when the profile is visited. Visitors have to actively tap on a play button.

Instagram has teamed up with musician Sabrina Carpenter to promote the feature, who , according to the US IT blog The Verge, is also using it to introduce a new song. The feature is available in the Insta client for Android and iOS, but is apparently not yet activated on the web.
