New videos: Apple tries to make Final Cut Pro appealing to professionals
Apple believes it has winning apps on offer with Final Cut Pro 10.8 for the Mac and Final Cut Pro 2 for the iPad. There is now a new campaign for this.

Apple has launched a new advertising series for its video editing programs on Mac and iPad. Two three-minute films have been available on YouTube since the weekend, which are intended to introduce the two current versions of Final Cut Pro: 10.8 for macOS and 2 for iPadOS. They present the key functions of the updates.
AI everywhere – plus Pencil on the iPad
While the Mac version of the advertisement is primarily intended to draw attention to the new AI functions in the update, the clip for the iPad version focuses in particular on the new multicam functionality when using iOS and iPadOS devices as a camera (in the context of the Final Cut Pro camera app) and operation using finger and pencil.
However, the two apps are still not comparable because they have a different range of functions. In addition, exporting in the iPad app is somewhat cumbersome due to the lack of real multitasking.

Apple launched both apps on the market in June. Final Cut Pro for iPad 2.0 can now use iPads and iPhones to record an entire studio. Up to four of the devices are controlled via the new Final Cut Camera app. The iPad serves as the control center and remote control. AI features include light and color correction, whereby you can automatically adjust the brightness, balance or contrast.

Mac version with better operation
The Mac version of Final Cut Pro can also automatically adjust light and color using AI, has an optimized slow motion mode (only for Apple Silicon machines), renamable workflows and an improved timeline search. There are several new filters and additional search criteria. "Tell your stories with more power" is one of the slogans Apple uses.

The Mac & i test indicated that Final Cut Pro 2 on the iPad has grown up considerably – especially because external media is now supported. Unfortunately, Apple has made no changes to other points of criticism: The iPad version still lacks AI-based object tracking, for example, and importing Mac projects does not yet work on the iPad either. Final Cut Pro for the Mac is still available as a single purchase for 350 euros, the iPadOS version costs 4.99 euros per month.
