Fun, peace and excitement are just some of the feelings that some people experience. This week's pictures show different characters and special moments that enrich their lives. They can be found by the sea, at the race track and on the soccer pitch. However, the way these environments show themselves is anything but ordinary. The creativity of our gallery photographers opens up different angles that put each place in a special light and arouse curiosity.

Angler

(Image: photofriend2000 )

The incredible tranquillity in the picture Angler by photofriend2000 is a joy for anyone who appreciates such moments. The scene looks quite lonely, but peaceful at the same time. Anyone who chooses a hobby like this, like the person in the portrait, also likes to be alone with their thoughts and not surrounded by other people.

"My wife and I spent our vacation at the Danish Baltic Sea. That day, it was really foggy on the horizon over the sea in the morning. It was also very calm. I grabbed my camera and went in search of a subject. This angler immediately caught my eye. It was a wonderful backdrop for me," the photographer recalls how it came about.

The fog and water merge into a minimalist grey surface, which exposes the protagonist and his boat and places them in the spotlight. The photographer deliberately opted for the rule of thirds and created space on the left-hand side, giving the main subject plenty of room to breathe. All these factors result in a beautiful composition that could not have been better.

On the dike

"I was in Bremerhaven for a week and took advantage of the blue hour in the good weather. In addition to the well-known sights of the Maritime Museum, radar tower etc., the motif of the dyke crest with the walkers from the land side towards the Weser is always good. Here, the yellow light of the setting sun was ideal for silhouetting the dyke walkers against the light," says Thomas Koppold (TPKo) about the high-contrast scene in his shot Auf dem Deich.

The beautiful color gradient from blue to yellow, the perspective and the silhouettes lend the photo the grace of a film scene. The photographer demonstrates an incredible feel for the stylistic device of silhouettes here.

You have to hold your breath for a moment when you see Jump by Mike Schwalbach (Mike_FJ). The photographer himself describes the daring jump of the two riders on the motorcycle and in the sidecar in detail: "Sweaty heat and the adrenaline rush of the sidecar race merged into an unforgettable moment that day. Two motorcyclists soar upwards under the scorching sun. The photo captures the adrenaline-pumped moment of a sidecar race. The contrasts between the sharp contours of the riders in their protective clothing and the blurred surroundings create a dynamic tension. The passenger, clinging to the sidecar, provides the necessary balance while the rider maneuvers the motorcycle through the air with impressive precision. The spectators at the edge of the track, only vaguely recognizable, underline the intensity of the moment and the enthusiasm of the crowd.

With Gedankenspiele, JStoever has chosen a very fitting title for his photo. The calm and melancholy mood is accentuated very well by the minimalist design and the view into the distance. The single person in the picture remains anonymous due to the back view and thus symbolizes the loneliness that prevails in the scene. The black-and-white realization merges the two parts of the picture and the horizon appears even more unreachable.

Rabauken Training

The young footballers on the green pitch look like little figures. Reiner von der Schlei has created a composition reminiscent of a video game in his picture Rabauken-Training. In addition, the lines of the pitch divide up the parts of the picture and highlight the boy in the center circle. The elevated position from which the picture was taken plays a decisive role and makes the graphic design appear even stronger, almost like a hidden object picture.

"The St. Pauli Rabauken training ground is directly adjacent to the Millerntor stadium in the middle of the St. Pauli district and is covered with artificial turf. Recently, you can admire it from the St. Pauli Bunker from a lofty height and photograph it from this perspective. I took advantage of this and adapted this original situation to take my photo. That's all there is to it, you just have to observe and then release the shutter at the right moment," says Reiner von der Schlei, explaining how the photo was taken.

Two televisions.

(Image: Thomas Brahtel )

Thomas Brahtel took his photo Two TVs during a tour of Poland on the pier in the seaside resort of Sopot. He explains the idea behind the composition: "In my picture, I tried to emphasize the vastness of the sea, which is one of its main characteristics. That's why I left a lot of space for the sky and made the two "televisions" relatively small in the picture".

The tiny elements on the horizon help to make everything seem far away, but not unreachable. This emphasizes the distance even more and makes it a tangible part of the picture idea. The two people in the picture break up the otherwise minimalist design somewhat and their dark clothing creates a point of contrast that draws the viewer's eye.

Blomqvist

(Image: Katzenfutter)

The moment when German-Finnish ice hockey player Sami Pauli Blomqvist steps onto the ice was captured by gallery photographer Katzenfutter. The blur in the background accentuates the player and draws attention to his face. The downward gaze radiates concentration, which is very important before the task ahead. The portrait radiates a sense of calm that you tend to look for in vain at an ice hockey game in a packed stadium. But here the photographer has managed to freeze the moment in such a way that you can imagine the player blocking out all the distractions around him and finding himself in his mental tunnel.
