Devolo announces its first router since ISDN times
Long after the ISDN era, Devolo is getting back into the router business. There are also new powerline adapters and a Wi-Fi 7 stick.
Devolo's mobile router 3600 5G LTE comes with two LAN ports, an analog telephone connection and USB Type C.

Devolo announces its first router of the modern Internet age: the 3600 5G LTE. It runs via mobile radio with a SIM card – in the best case via 5G, but it can also handle 4G (LTE) and 3G (UMTS). The 3600 5G LTE is Devolo's first router since 2004, when the manufacturer sold the Microlink for ISDN connections. One retailer even still stocks the product (starting from 398 €).
The newcomer transmits via Wi-Fi 6 in the 5 and 2.4 GHz bands. In the press release, Devolo states an aggregated transmission rate of 3.6 Gbit/s gross across both bands. PCs or other devices can also be connected via cable: One connection transmits 2.5 Gbit/s, a second one Gbit/s. The product images also show a USB-C port, albeit without speed labeling.
The device is operated via a web interface or via Devolo's Home Network app. The latter is available for Android and iOS.

It is questionable whether Devolo builds the 3600 5G LTE itself. The tower housing is reminiscent of the Taiwanese manufacturer Arcadyan, which also produces routers for other companies, including Telekom (starting from 249,90 €).
Meanwhile, the price is quite something: Devolo recommends 399 euros. Delivery should begin by the end of the year. Other 5G routers start at around 200 euros, including models with Wi-Fi 6.
New top powerline model and USB WLAN sticks
In addition to the router, Devolo is also announcing its new top-of-the-range Magic 2 WiFi 6 next powerline model. As an access point, it transmits via Wi-Fi 6 with up to 3 Gbit/s gross, summed over both radio bands. As an Internet adapter via power lines, the manufacturer claims 2.4 Gbit/s gross.

The Magic 2 Wi-Fi 6 next should also be available by the end of the year. A single adapter has a recommended retail price of 190 euros. The 2-pack (starter kit) costs 250 euros and the 3-pack (multi-room kit) 430 euros.
There are announcements, but as yet virtually no details, about two WLAN USB sticks: Devolo plans to launch one with Wi-Fi 6 and a second with Wi-Fi 7, allowing desktop PCs without a wireless module in particular to be easily integrated into a WLAN. The manufacturer has not specified a release date or prices.
