AMD's Ryzen 5 7600X3D comes to Germany
The six-core Ryzen 5 7600X3D is AMD's affordable AM5 processor with extra cache. If the price is right, it could become a gaming recommendation.

The Ryzen 5 7600X3D will not remain a US-exclusive desktop processor. Unexpectedly, the retailer Mindfactory is also bringing it to German retailers. The official recommended retail price is 329 euros.
This means that the Ryzen 5 7600X3D is officially 170 euros cheaper than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D if you only look at the recommended retail price. In return, it has six instead of eight CPU cores (Zen 4); the maximum boost clock frequency drops from 5.0 to 4.7 GHz.
Both processors use additional stack cache, i.e. a total of 96 MByte level 3 cache. This provides more performance, especially in games: you benefit greatly from low latencies, as more data is stored directly in the CPU's cache and less data has to be routed to the main memory. This results in higher frame rates.

Retail prices must fall
However, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D (starting from 348,99 €) has been available for more than a year and a half. Since its market launch, the price has fallen considerably, below the 400 euro mark. For the six-core to become really attractive, its price would have to develop similarly, ideally towards 250 euros. Otherwise, the 50 euro surcharge for eight CPU cores is worth it.
AMD also has plenty of competition at the bottom end: the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, for example, costs less than 200 euros. Its Zen 3 cores are somewhat slower, but it has eight instead of six. You can buy a suitable AM4 mainboard from the price difference at the start.
On the downside, there are hardly any upgrade options with a 5000 Ryzen and AM4. With the Ryzen 5 7600X3D and an AM5 mainboard, interested parties can install a Ryzen 9000 successor later – AMD wants to support the platform until at least 2027.
