Ex-Apple design boss invents new jacket button
No more iPods, Macs or iPhones: Jonathan Ive's design company "LoveFrom" now operates in other spheres. Now it has designed a special accessory.

It can be quite annoying when a jacket doesn't close properly when you leave the house in the morning. Apple's former "design god" and Chief Design Officer Jonathan "Jony" Ive also seems to have had this problem. At least he has now solved the problem once and for all: his design studio LoveFrom, according to its own statement "a creative collective of designers, architects, musicians, filmmakers, authors, engineers and artists", has developed a new button together with the luxury winter clothing manufacturer Moncler.
Four years of work with Moncler
This is being used for the first time on a new down vest, which can also be made into a field jacket, a parka or a rain poncho on request. Both pieces are connected with the new buttons. The new "Duo Button" is based on magnets and makes changing the outer jacket "child's play", as Fast Company magazine reports.

Ive emphasized that he was not concerned with any form of arrogant ambition to "disrupt [buttons]". Instead, it was a "very gentle, humble exploration" of the concept. Nevertheless, Fast Company writes of it being a kind of "MagSafe for buttons".
Needs looms for comforter covers
The project has now resulted in a new "Capsule Collection" with Moncler. The colors are rather unusual, as they are "gender-neutral pastel tones", as it was called. These are intended to be particularly lightweight. The "three-in-one shell jacket" is expected to go on sale from September 24.
According to Fast Company, LoveFrom and Moncler worked on the development for four years. The jacket itself is made from recycled nylon, which is folded like a kimono and made from one large piece of fabric with no visible seams. Production therefore only works with looms that are actually intended for comforter covers. Moncler has not yet revealed the cost of the jacket, but given the brand's usual prices, it is likely to cost several thousand euros. The collection with Ive is also likely to be limited. LoveFrom has already collaborated with Airbnb and Ferrari, among others. However, the contract with Apple expired.
