ElevationLab has new TagVaults in its range. The attachment for Apple's AirTag tracker is said to be more durable than its predecessors.

If you use AirTags to secure items against theft, you don't want them to be easy to remove. Apple accessory specialist ElevationLab has been offering suitable products for this purpose for some time, but the new security mounts are likely to be the most durable to date. Among other things, they are IP69 water-resistant, can no longer be opened without special tools and are difficult to knock off again thanks to their "impact-proofness".
Flat profile, opening only with a key
They can be attached to cars, two-wheelers, camping products and even camera lenses. The profile is quite flat, which should increase durability. The security mounts are attached using 3M VHB adhesive surfaces on the back. The tape is considered durable and can withstand high temperatures. Opening and closing is possible using a three-pronged key; normal tools such as screwdrivers are not suitable for the security mounts.

ElevationLab previously offered mounts with an adhesive surface and twist lock, textile mounts and magnetic variants. Individual mounts can also be attached using screws. For Milwaukee brand tools, color-matching variants are available that are designed to be unnoticeable to thieves. The security mounts from ElevationLab are available from 15 US dollars, a pack of four costs 35 dollars. At the moment, they can only be ordered via the provider's US store.
Stalking protection versus theft protection
But as well as AirTags can now be attached to valuable items and hidden if necessary –, they are not actually intended for theft protection, according to Apple. They are intended to help users find lost items more quickly. This is because anti-stalking measures may inform thieves more quickly than the victims would like.
Warnings that an unknown AirTag is "following" the person appear on the iPhone and (now possibly also on Android devices). There is even a class action lawsuit in the USA. Apple and its competitor Google, whose own tracker technology is becoming increasingly popular, have joined forces to prevent stalking attempts. The tracker systems are not compatible with each other.
