Playstation Network: Services disrupted, log-in and gaming not possible
The Playstation Network is struggling with a global disruption. It has not been possible to log in or play online since around 2 am.

The Playstation Network has been disrupted globally since Tuesday night this week. Apparently no online services can be used.

The status message on Playstation Network shows all essential components as disrupted: No logins are possible on the PSN account, and no new accounts can be created or existing ones edited.

In addition to logging in, game streaming is also not possible. Sony states: "You may have difficulty accessing games, apps or network functions". Playstation Video and the Playstation Store are also currently unavailable.

According to the PSN list, the PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5, Web and "Other" are affected. The disruption reports on Downdetector began at around 2:15 am our time. The PSN reports that the disruption began at around 3:21 am.

Causes and time of disruption unclear
The causes of the interference are still completely unclear. There are no indications as to whether they are the effects of a cyber attack, merely server-side configuration errors or errors caused by forces of nature.
It is also not possible to estimate when the faults will be rectified at the time of reporting. Sony writes that the company is working on "fixing the problem as quickly as possible". There is no further information on the Sony/Playstation social network channels, nor on the Playstation website.
However, Sony confirms the fault on the Japanese X account "Ask Playstation". However, details are also missing there.
This is not the first disruption to the Playstation Network. In April 2021, the gaming network was down for about an hour. The duration of the outage seems unusually long. At the time of reporting, it had already lasted five hours,
