Consorsbank: Problems with SecurePlus and new app design
An update paralyzed the iOS version of the TAN app. At the same time, the completely redesigned Consorsbank app has been criticized.
Error messages that nobody wants to see: Logging in to SecurePlus may fail with a confusing message.
Customers of Consorsbank may encounter considerable banking problems with their iPhone: It is not possible to log in to version 1.6.9 of the SecurePlus app, which was released as an update on Tuesday. As a result, TANs can no longer be generated to authorize online banking transfers, for example.
Update disables SecurePlus
The error apparently only occurs in the iOS version, but not in the Android app. Updates are carried out automatically on the devices by default. Instead of the convenient log-in via Face ID, SecurePlus 1.6.9 again asks users for their PIN to unlock the TAN app. However, it is not possible to enter the number combination because a message dialog covers the field. This refers to a "required version update", which was not originally available in the App Store. According to the bank's hotline, the problem affected all iOS users, readers report.
Late on Tuesday evening, Consorsbank finally provided an update to version 1.7.0 in the App Store. However, this did not immediately eliminate the error either, as Mac & i was also able to determine on an editorial device: After entering the (correct) PIN, the irritating message then appeared: "The SecurePlus PIN you entered is incorrect. You have 0 more attempts." Only by force-quitting and restarting the app was it possible to enter the PIN and then gain access.

Criticism of the new design of the banking app
Users who can no longer log into the SecurePlus app should first check the App Store to see if version 1.7.0 is already installed. It then seems advisable to "close" the app via the app changer. To do this, swipe your finger from the bottom edge to the center of the screen to open the app changer and slide the minimized view of the ConsorsBank SecurePlus app upwards to close it.
ConsorsBank has recently relaunched version 2 of its banking app. The SecurePlus app is no longer required for this, but customers still need it to carry out banking transactions in the browser, for example. However, the complete redesign of the banking app has been met with considerable criticism, especially among iOS users: the App Store contains numerous 1-star ratings with complaints about the new "confusing" design and missing functions.
