The first Ryzen AI 7 with eight CPU cores is here

The Ryzen AI 300 notebook processors are now also available in the "Pro" flavor for business notebooks. There are three models to start with: Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 375, Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 370 and Ryzen AI 7 Pro 360.

The 7 processor is particularly interesting: it is the first mobile eight-core processor from AMD's Zen 5 generation, also known as Strix Point. It apparently combines four Zen 5 and four Zen 5c cores – but AMD has yet to provide clear confirmation. Compared to its big brothers, the processor loses 8 MByte of level 3 cache; 16 MByte are still active.

The integrated Radeon 880M graphics unit has also been slimmed down, without AMD giving any details. The integrated AI unit (Neural Processing Unit, NPU) remains fully active with a computing power of 50 TOPS. This means it can perform up to 50 trillion calculations per second.

HX processors with 12 cores

The two top models Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 375 and Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 370 correspond to their previously presented relatives without the "Pro". Both use fully active dies with 12 CPU cores (4 Zen 5 + 8 Zen 5c) and a maximum boost clock of 5.1 GHz, a Radeon 890M GPU with 1024 shaders and 24 MByte level 3 cache. In the 375, only the NPU is clocked slightly higher than in the 370 – it achieves 55 instead of 50 TOPS. Notebook manufacturers can configure all CPUs with a thermal design power (TDP) of 15 to 54 watts. The actual performance depends on the TDP and the cooling.

The first business notebooks with Ryzen AI Pro 300 should be available in December. AMD is expecting a major wave in 2025, with more than 100 platforms expected to be released with the processors. This will result in even more configurations with different CPUs, memory configurations and displays. AMD did not say what prices the notebooks will start at.
