DKB: Cards cannot currently be stored with Apple Pay on the Mac
If you want to integrate a new credit card from DKB on your Mac, you need Apple Pay verification. But this is exactly what is currently on strike.

The Apple Pay payment service, which is popular with Apple customers, is not only available on the iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch, but also on the Mac. Once set up in the Apple Wallet, you can then pay for your purchases with the Safari browser using your fingerprint on the Touch ID sensor, if the e-commerce provider supports this. However, customers of the direct bank DKB are currently unable to do this if they have received a new credit card: The setup fails with a verification error.
Problem at least since the weekend
To ensure that not every user can deposit a - possibly stolen - credit card with Apple Pay, banks provide an additional verification process. This applies even if Apple Pay has been successfully set up on other devices. On the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, the respective banking app is usually used for this – alternatively the (actually insecure) SMS. Since banking apps are not usually available on the Mac and DKB has apparently not found a way to handle verification via the banking app on the cell phone, SMS is also used there. A mandatory verification step is therefore necessary after the card deposit has been completed.

The problem: the server responsible for this has been down since at least the weekend. The SMS with the verification number was also not sent to legitimate account holders. The result is that you get stuck in the verification loop ("Verification required"). After several attempts, there is also an error message stating that there is no "verification method" at all and that it is not available. "Contact your card provider for more information", it says succinctly.
DKB: technician has been informed
Anyone affected by the problem can no longer close the control panel where the Wallet app is located: The app gets stuck in an endless loop after clicking on "OK". The only remedy is to close the entire system settings. It is also not possible or advisable to remove the unconfirmed credit card without further ado –. You can delete all credit cards stored on the Mac via the iCloud settings alone –, including those that work, so you have to enter everything again. But deleting and then trying again also leads to a dead end.
According to information from the DKB hotline, the error is known and they are working on it. The employee did not provide any information on when a fix can be expected. It also remains unclear whether the bank will have to reactivate the verification process for users who are currently no longer offered a confirmation method. The Apple Pay deposit on iPhone and Apple Watch still seems to work.
