Without an event: Apple unveils new iPad mini with Apple Intelligence support
Three years after the release of its last compact tablet, Apple presents its successor. The iPad mini 7 comes with technology from the iPhone 15 Pro.

Apple announced a new generation of the iPad mini in a press release on Tuesday afternoon. The seventh series now comes with an improved interior and makes the hardware ready for Apple's AI system Apple Intelligence, which is due to be released this month. The hardware is now available for pre-order and will be officially on sale from next Wednesday, October 23.
Four colors, three storage sizes
The iPad mini 7 is visually identical to its predecessor, which was launched in September 2021. It is a compact 8.3-inch tablet with a resolution of 2266 x 1488 pixels at 326 ppi with LED backlighting (IPS) without HDR and 120 hertz support. The screen has a maximum brightness of 500 nits. Instead of the A15 Bionic from the previous model, the A17 Pro is now installed. It comes from the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max from 2023, has 6 CPU cores (2 performance, 4 efficiency) and 5 GPU cores.

The AI unit (Neural Engine) has 16 cores. Apple has most likely installed 8 GB of RAM, which is necessary for Apple Intelligence – However, no specific details are given. The iPad mini 7 supports the Apple Pencil Pro and the Apple Pencil with USB-C; Apple does not provide any information on the Pencil 2, which still worked on the iPad mini 6. In terms of Wi-Fi, the iPad mini 7 only supports Wi-Fi 6E and not 7 like the iPhone. A total of four colors (space grey, blue, purple and polar star) and three storage sizes are available.
Prices and variants
As usual, Apple sells the iPad mini 7 in variants with Wi-Fi and with 5G. The rear camera has 12 megapixels (wide angle) and supports Smart HDR 4. The front camera also has 12 megapixels (ultra-wide angle) and features Apple's follow mode. The Wi-Fi versions are priced at 599, 729 and 979 euros, the 5G tablets at 769, 899 and 1149 euros (128, 256 and 512 GB respectively).
The manufacturer also offers free engravings, the Apple Pencil Pro is available for 149 euros and the Apple Pencil with USB-C for 89 euros. Finally, Apple is also selling a Smartfolio case in matching colors for 69 euros each, and there is no Magic Keyboard for the iPad mini 7 this time either.
