Regular keyboards, whether they are designed for notebooks or desktop computers, are comparatively unergonomic because the hands have to be placed at an angle. Accordingly, some users swear by other arrangements, such as Microsoft's famous Natural Keyboard or other two-part keyboards. Now there is something similar from a former Apple designer. The Flow Keyboard from NUIO is also wireless and can therefore be placed anywhere on the desk.

The device was developed by Tom Wilson, who was previously part of Apple's product design group and was one of the inventors of the first MacBook Air. Wilson teamed up with his brother Greg Wilson to found NUIO. The idea behind the Flow Keyboard is to rethink traditional keyboards, say the developers. In addition to the Flow Keyboard itself, there are also accessories to position it correctly.

The basic design consists of two rounded individual keyboards that divide the keys between them. There is a larger space bar at the bottom left and right respectively. Both Mac and Windows/Linux layouts are currently available, but not yet in ISO format for European markets. A row of function keys is integrated, the keys are reminiscent of a MacBook, but have a slightly higher profile. Charging is via USB-C, the connection is always wireless via Bluetooth. Together, both keyboard parts weigh 610 grams. They are available in a total of seven different colors, including a wood-like brown tone. The price is 399 US dollars plus delivery; the Flow Keyboard will be available in some colors from December, others not until January.

The so-called Flow System can also be purchased. It includes a tray, a trackpad and two wristpads; the keyboards are each mounted slightly higher using a magnetic holder. However, the set has a luxury price: it costs over 1000 dollars plus shipping costs.

Several colors and sizes are also offered here. NUIO also supplies a carrying case for the keyboards. More detailed information on the NUIO trackpad –, such as whether it will have a physical click –, has not yet been provided. It costs 249 dollars individually and will be available from January.
