Postbox purchased by eM Client, discontinues further development
The e-mail client Postbox has no future: competitor eM Client buys out the developer and at the same time discontinues the software completely.

Postbox will in future belong to eM Client. At the same time, sales, further development and support for the email client will be discontinued. Users should switch to the eM Client program, which will also be released for Windows and macOS as well as iOS and Android. Support will be provided until December 22, 2024; the Postbox Help Center will remain available for one year longer.
Postbox does not provide any detailed information on the reasons for this. The company opted for eM Client because its software offers more functions and the development team is larger. Furthermore, the program is the ideal choice for existing users because eM Client has continuously released innovative features and the functions are geared towards the needs of users. Specifically, the e-mail application also includes a calendar, task and note management and a chat interface. eM Client also offers more features in the email segment itself, including native Exchange support, PGP encryption, timing for sending and a snooze function.

Switching discount
Postbox is offering its customers a discount for switching: regular customers receive 50 percent off the purchase or the first year of the subscription; those who purchased a license after 22 September receive 100 percent or can cancel their purchase. The latter is valid until December 22, the discount campaign runs until December 31. However, existing licenses for Postbox are explicitly not valid for eM Client.
Anyone who decides to move to eM Client can refer to the instructions. There is also an FAQ at Postbox. There is no clear information whether the Postbox developers are moving to eM Client, but the statement that they are looking forward to a future with the new owner at least indicates this.
