China: New rumors about the iPhone Foldable – including resolution and camera
Apple's first foldable iPhone is still scheduled for 2026. New information on the display and image sensors has now come from China.

It's still quite a while until 2026. Nevertheless, rumors about possible foldables that Apple is planning for next year are intensifying. A well-known leaker from China now claims to already know the resolutions planned by Apple – and how the camera will be installed.
Quite small and 4:3
As the Handle Digital Chat Station writes on Weibo, two screens are planned – inside and outside, as is also known from the Galaxy Fold & Co. –. The outer screen is reportedly only 5.49 inches. For comparison: The iPhone 16 Pro Max now comes with 6.9 inches, while the iPhone 13 mini recently had 5.4 inches. The resolution of the external display is reportedly 2088 x 1422 pixels (13 mini: 2340 x 1080).

The main screen is said to reach 7.76 inches, which would be slightly less than the previously rumored 8 inches. It is said to have a resolution of 2713 x 1920 pixels, i.e., a good 4:3. This ratio is a standard problem with foldables: They only play videos with thick black edges. On the other hand, several apps can be distributed on the screen, provided Apple finally allows this in iOS. It was previously said that Apple was planning a largely “crease-free” display for its foldable, which is also an old issue. The crease in the screen is to be prevented with a special mechanism.
Camera under the screen
In addition to the resolution details, Digital Chat Station also has another piece of news up its sleeve: it claims that Apple is trying out an under-display camera for the first time with the Foldable. With this technology, the camera is built into the screen and is not normally visible. This has some technical disadvantages, although Apple has been working on this topic for some time.
The under-display camera is to be used for selfies, while the rear camera is designed as normal, allegedly with two image sensors (instead of three as in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max). Instead of facial recognition via Face ID, a fingerprint sensor (Touch ID) could also be used in the power or sleep/wake button. In addition to the iPhone Foldable, a larger iPad (or a Mac) measuring over 18 inches is also reportedly planned.
