New functions: Package insert of iOS 18.4 at a glance
With its latest release candidate, Apple has also revealed detailed information about new features in iOS 18.4 for the first time. This is all coming.

Apple has announced its next major iOS update for "April". Version 18.4 should be released this week – It could be ready as early as tomorrow Tuesday, the 1st of the month, probably towards the evening. With the release candidate version 2 presented last week, Apple also provided a package insert for the first time. This contains an overview of the new features. It includes some exciting details – even if Apple is not equipping all markets with all features. An overview.
AI for other regions too
The central innovation in iOS 18.4 is (finally) the support of additional languages for Apple Intelligence –, including the official launch of Apple's AI system in the European Union. A total of eight additional languages plus two English variants have been added. These include German, French, Italian, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese (for Brazil) and Chinese abbreviations. English has been optimized for India and Singapore. Sketches ("Sketch") are now available in the Image Playground image generator. Important notifications recognized by the AI ("Priority Notifications") appear at the top so that they are noticed more quickly. iPhone mirroring and SharePlay remote maintenance apparently remain deactivated in the EU.
A new control and content app including App Store for "preloading" is coming for the Vision Pro. Apple News+ gets – in the weiterhin only in the US, UK, Australia and Canada – recipes with cooking tips and instructions and a new "Food" section. The Photos app has new, improved filters, allows media types and different collections to be arranged and no longer exports hidden photos automatically.
Little things and Matter vacuum cleaner
There is also a new (now slightly better hidden) search overview in Safari, an improved setup assistant for children's accounts including a more accurate screen time query (children are less likely to bypass this), new widgets for the Podcasts app and new AI-generated App Store reviews. Apple is also finally adding Matter vacuum cleaners for control in the Home app and can pause App Store downloads and resume them at the respective download location without having to restart them completely.
More options have been added to the Control Center and there are some new emojis. In addition to iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, macOS 15.4 and updates for watchOS, tvOS and HomePod firmware are also expected. AirPods Max owners get more USB-C features.
