October: These new products are coming to Apple
The new iPhones and new accessories are available, but what's next for the Mac? A preview of possible products.

As usual, September was Apple's iPhone month: the 16-series models are finally available, and Apple also unveiled the new AirPods 4 and AirPods Max with USB-C. But what's next in Apple's pipeline for 2024? A whole range of new products are now on the agenda for October. These include Macs, but also iPads.
Numerous new Macs – finally with M4
This year, Apple was unusually the first to equip the iPad Pro with the brand new M4 SoC. In contrast, all current Macs still use the Apple Silicon M3 generation. The rumor mill currently believes in at least three new Mac series with the updated SoC.
These include the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, which are expected to be unveiled in the fall anyway, the Mac mini in a new, smaller look with five USB-C ports and a 24-inch iMac M4. A new MacBook Air series with M4 SoC would be rather unlikely – but possibly conceivable –. The well-known display analyst Ross Young reports that the delivery of suitable screens will begin in October. However, Apple only introduced M3 models of the 13 and 15-inch MacBook Air in the spring. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman therefore believes that the delivery date is more likely to be in the first quarter of 2025.
iPads and possible availability dates
New mini and standard models of the iPad, which Apple also likes to update in October, are pending. The manufacturer last updated the iPad mini in 2021 and the standard iPad in 2022. Both models could benefit from a new interior with faster SoCs and possibly better cameras, but the form factor is unlikely to change.
The schedule: Apple will probably hold its keynote in mid to late October. The new devices are then expected to go on sale at the beginning of November, just in time for the Christmas season. At an event, the company could also present Apple Intelligence in detail again, as macOS 15.1, iPadOS 18.1 and, above all, iOS 18.1, which officially release the AI system, are due to be released in October. However, the rollout with all the announced functions will then only take place gradually.
