Apple Intelligence: Still waiting for first tests
Although the iOS 18 beta has been out for weeks, Apple Intelligence has not been released. Now there are the first indications that it will be soon.

Waiting for the biggest new feature in iOS 18: Apple's AI system Apple Intelligence is supposed to be released in its initial stages in the fall, but no one has yet been able to try out the generative functions. The technology has still not been released as part of the developer beta, which is now in its third edition. This means that Apple Intelligence is not available to anyone outside Cupertino. However, there are now new indications that this could soon change.
Already present in the simulator
Developer Matthew Rodarmel has found several references to Apple Intelligence in the Xcode simulator of the third iOS 18 developer preview. The simulator can be used to test apps on the Mac. Apple has placed ein new menu prominently in the system settings. It is called "Apple Intelligence & Siri", is marked with the familiar icon and has a beta label - Apple had already suggested this. The familiar Siri settings can now be found here, including language, voice and personalized information.
The way Siri should respond, the option to delete the Siri and dictation history and a menu for the option to interact with Siri in a chatbot-like manner ("Messaging with Siri", which is already possible) have also been integrated. This includes settings for app suggestions and notifications - which is also nothing new. Apple Intelligence still cannot be switched on in the simulator, and the new Siri animation, in which the entire edge of the screen becomes colorful, has not yet been implemented.
Will there be a waiting list?
Apple had announced that Apple Intelligence would be available for testing this summer. However, it has not been announced when this will happen, nor who will be among the testers. It could be assumed that Apple Intelligence will initially only be tested by a small group of developers. However, the rollout of the first public beta of iOS 18 is currently imminent. However, Apple may also be using a different method: the waiting list.
The first information on this was provided back in June - in the form of currently unused strings in the operating system. Apple Intelligence will only be available in US English this year anyway, and only the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max (and later 16) iPhones can be used. What's more, a new, smarter Siri may not be released until next year. Another problem in the EU is Apple's stance on the Digital Markets Act- the company is afraid of falling under regulation and therefore wants to postpone the launch. Initially, Apple Intelligence should at least be able to summarize texts, generate emojis and images (albeit in a stylized and unrealistic form) and sort notifications and emails better. The aforementioned more intelligent Siri, including app control (and more), will be added later.
