Presentation of the Kia EV9 GT: Lush E-SUV with extra power
Kia launched a top version of the EV9 SUV on the market. As a GT, the large SUV has 374 kW output and, at 4.6 s to 100 km/h, is a heavy longitudinal accelerator.

The question of when "too much" finally becomes "too much" in the automotive sector is the subject of passionate discussions in forums. It is difficult to draw a clear line, but current developments are certainly thought-provoking. For a top model, it can now be more than 370 kW, which in past units corresponded to slightly more than 500 hp. Kia is also following suit and is launching a top-of-the-range version of the EV9, the GT, which offers 374 kW in a truly lavish package.

So whether it makes sense to equip a car that easily weighs 2.7 tons with even more power than was previously available is answered by a supplier with a light hand: "There is a significant global demand that is worthwhile for us, so we are meeting it." The previous top-of-the-range model was already completely unsuspiciously hesitant. Kia promises just 5.3 seconds in the standard sprint for the EV9 GT-Line with 285 kW. In the EV9 GT with 374 kW it should be 4.6 seconds.
The familiar 99.8 kWh storage system is installed, which should enable a range of up to 450 km in the WLTP. This is a good deal less than is promised for the version with 285 kW, for which the manufacturer promises a range of up to 505 km in conjunction with the 21-inch rims.

)The voltage level is 800 volts. The window between 10 and 80 percent charge level should close within 24 minutes. Of course, the infrastructure must provide the necessary power and the battery must also be in an ideal temperature range. To achieve this, Kia has installed a powerful conditioning system for the cells.

Kia has not yet provided any further technical data or prices. A Kia EV9 GT-Line with 285 kW is listed in the current price list at 82,380 euros. We expect the top model to cost at least 90,000 euros. These limits are also shifting noticeably, and the reason is identical: a sufficiently large number of potential buyers will support this. In the case of the Kia EV9 GT, they will be able to do so from the third quarter of 2025, when deliveries in Europe are scheduled to begin.
