Audi presents the next A6 with a combustion engine, which is still available as an Avant. It was to be expected that there would be no technical sensations. After all, nobody had expected the unexpected return of interest in conventional drive technology. As usual, travel comfort and everyday utility are to be combined, with a greater emphasis on the latter in the Avant. The 4.99 m long estate offers space for up to five people. The volume of 503 liters can be increased to up to 1534 liters by folding down the 40:20:40 split rear bench seat. Similarly, long estate cars such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the BMW 5 Series Touring or the VW Passat Variant offer significantly larger volumes in some cases. The A6 was never really intended to be a commercial vehicle, and the new edition does nothing to change this.

)Familiar interior design
The controls of the A6 are already familiar from the Audi Q5 or Q6 e-tron. The steering wheel in the upcoming A6 offers the usual picture with instrument panel and central monitor, while a somewhat overloaded control island in the door for numerous functions is new. As an option, the front passenger has their own 10.9-inch display for programs of their choice. Interestingly, Audi still offers genuine leather upholstery for the seats and interior in addition to artificial leather, fabric or recycled materials. Other manufacturers' catalogs now often feature a completely vegan interior. According to Audi, the optional wood decor is made from trees that can no longer be used for other purposes.

Audi
)Engines up to 270 kW
At its market launch in March, the Audi A6 Avant will initially be available with two four-cylinder engines and a V6. Further versions up to the most powerful S6 and RS6 versions will follow. The four-cylinder engines with a displacement of two liters each deliver 150 kW as petrol and diesel engines, while the three-liter six-cylinder engine delivers 270 kW and 550 Nm. The high torque enables hybridization with an electric motor contributing a maximum of 18 kW and 230 Nm and a lithium battery with a capacity of 1.7 kWh. However, the core task of the hybrid drive is to keep the combustion engine at the most favorable operating point for as long as possible to reduce consumption. As before, very short distances can also be driven electrically.

Prices probably slightly below those of the electric car
The cost price for the Audi A6 Avant was recently just under 60,000 euros. Audi has not yet announced any prices for the new A6, but they will presumably be slightly lower than those of the A6 Avant e-tron, which is currently available from 64,450 euros. The difference is therefore unlikely to be significant. As usual, important equipment includes sports or air suspension and all-wheel steering. One setback is the glass roof, which can no longer be opened. Deliveries will start at the end of May.
