Opel Corsa Electric gets a little more range

Opel is facing increasing competition in the small electric car segment. For a long time, the Corsa-e and the technically identical Peugeot e-208 were among the few cars in this class that were also available with a battery-electric drive. The field has expanded with the Renault R5, Mini Cooper Electric and Hyundai Inster, among others, and Volkswagen is also planning to enter the market en masse from next year. Opel therefore has to stand up to the younger competition and is trying to do so with a small improvement.

With an optimized drive and further development of the battery cells, the range increases slightly. In the WLTP, Opel now promises up to 429 km – an increase of 24 km. However, nothing has changed in the other key data. The battery has 51 kWh gross, the maximum charging power is 100 kW and the consumption in the cycle is 14.2 kWh. All of this corresponds to the values that Opel has already advertised.

Only for an extra charge: three-phase charger and heat pump

The Corsa Electric still has two drive systems. The older one delivers 100 kW and is rated at 15.7 kWh/100 km in the cycle, with a maximum range of 357 km. The newer drive offers 115 kW and consumes slightly less at 14.2 kWh/100 km. However, it costs 1500 euros more. Opel charges an additional 700 euros for an 11 kW three-phase charger, regardless of the drive and equipment, and the heat pump that was once standard now costs an extra 300 euros.
