The Porsche 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne model series are getting an overhaul of the infotainment system for their model year change. Porsche Communication Management (PCM) offers access to the Porsche App Center and Dolby Atmos, a digital signal processing system designed to improve the sound. Porsche has integrated additional voice control based on Amazon Alexa and an extended Porsche Connect package.
Hardware adapted to the computing power
The hardware has been adapted to take account of the higher performance required for the extended range of functions. This should make the system react faster, as Porsche says. This also applies to access to third-party apps via the Porsche App Center, as is already familiar from the Porsche Macan. Similar to an app store, it enables direct access to applications from different categories.

Typical examples include apps for streaming, news, media libraries and weather, travel guides and charging station searches. Online games, karaoke and remote control of smart home functions are also available. As this offering is to be continuously expanded and improved, Porsche promises free updates for ten years after the purchase of a vehicle equipped with the current PCM.
Alexa and Atmos
With this step, Porsche is adding Amazon Alexa to its own Voice Pilot voice control system. This app can also be used while driving, for example for smart home functions, to-do and shopping lists, playing podcasts and music or messages. This app can be activated via the "Alexa" voice command, a configurable button or an on-screen icon.

In vehicles with stereo systems from Bose or Burmester, the revised PCM enables the use of signal data processing for Dolby Atmos for the first time. If the works being played are available in this format, it should give every single person in the car an acoustic impression as if they were sitting in a concert hall.
The Porsche 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne models from the new model year are available to order now.
