Electric car: Nissan Interstar-e van cheaper with small battery

Nissan is now offering its battery-electric van Nissan Interstar-e as a slimmed-down version with a 40-kWh battery. The Renault Master, which was launched in 2023 with the same technical basis, was delivered with both battery sizes from the outset.

Companies that use such a van in the popular "Sprinter format" in precisely defined scenarios and do not require a long range for this can save at least 6000 euros for otherwise unused capacity.

Up to four tons

Until now, the Nissan Interstar-e was only available with an 87 kWh battery and a range of up to 460 kilometers in the WLTP, with a cost price of 53,380 euros before VAT. The 40 kWh now available as an option may well be sufficient for urban delivery services with many stops and low average speeds, for example.

The electric motor has an output of 96 kW and a range of up to 175 kilometers in the WLTP. Without changing the cell chemistry or voltage level, the maximum possible charging power is limited to 11 kW of alternating current and 50 kW of direct current, depending on the capacity, while the 87 kW storage unit can take up to 22 or 130 kW. The charging times should therefore not differ significantly in practice.

With the 40 kWh battery, the Interstar-e is available in two body variants, as L2 with a length of 5685 mm and L3 with a length of 6315 mm, each with a height of 2498 mm (H2). The short L2H2 holds 10.8, the longer L3H2 a maximum of 14.8 cubic meters. On request, Nissan also supplies versions loaded to 3.5, 3.8 and four tons.

Nissan Commercial Vehicles promises a Europe-wide five-year warranty up to a mileage of 160,000 kilometers, while the brand grants an eight-year warranty on the battery up to the same mileage. The new entry-level version of the electric van can be ordered now.
