Toyota bZ4X Touring electric car: more space, more power
Toyota's bZ4X electric car will also be launched in an extended form in 2026. As a Touring, it offers significantly more trunk space and performance.

Toyota's electric car bZ4X will get another body variant at the beginning of 2026, which will make the E-SUV significantly more spacious at the rear. The extended version of the bZ4X will be known as the “Touring”, with a larger load compartment to increase space and versatility. As in the shorter bZ4X, which is still on offer, Toyota has eliminated two of the platform's main weaknesses: preconditioning and load planning have finally been integrated. The Japanese company presented a corresponding model update in March, which also included the announcement of more powerful and more economical drive systems. The Touring is also available with front-wheel and all-wheel drive. Performance is increased in both cases. A facelift also brings a more powerful and more economical drive.
560 kilometers range
Compared to the bZ4X, the bZ4X Touring has grown in length by 140 to 4830 mm and in height by 20 to 1670 mm. This increases the load compartment volume by 148 to 600 liters. This is an improvement at a low level, especially as the 4690 mm long bZ4X with its 452 liter trunk is no space miracle. With the 40:60 folding rear seat bench, the available space can be increased if required. Toyota does not specify by how much in its initial press release. The additional length only benefits the trunk, the rear footwell remains the same.

)At 74.7 kWh, the battery in the Touring has a slightly higher energy content than in the short bZ4X, which offers a maximum of 73.1 instead of 71.4 kWh with the facelift. A heat pump is fitted as standard. Depending on the equipment, Toyota will fit a 22 kW AC charger. Direct current can be charged with up to 150 kW at peak times. Toyota has not yet provided any information on consumption and charging time. The range in the WLTP is also – as well as the drive power – not yet finally homologated, Toyota speaks of 560 km for now. The real-world consumption can still be estimated at between 14 and 19 kWh/100 km, if you compare our test result with the higher performance and greater weight as well as the promised reduction in consumption with the new drive system.
Further developed electric drive
The bZ4X Touring is equipped with newly developed electric drives (“eAxle”), which use silicon carbide semiconductors to combine better efficiency with higher performance in a smaller size and lower weight. For the model with front-wheel drive, Toyota is also still provisionally estimating 165 kW, which would correspond to an increase of 15 kW compared to the current model. This means that the Toyota is very well motorized; in our test of the bZ4X with 150 kW, nobody missed a higher output. With all-wheel drive, the bZ4X Touring is expected to get 280 kW. This would mean that the engine on the rear axle would be boosted from the current 80 to at least around 115 kW. Even if the exact output has not yet been determined, it will certainly be the manufacturer's most powerful electric car.

)A modified center console is intended to simplify the use of digital devices, while the instrument panel and the standard 14-inch multimedia display have also been redesigned. With the new model, Toyota is integrating the previously sorely missed route planner with load planning and automatic preconditioning into the infotainment system.

The launch of the bZ4X Touring in Europe is planned for the first half of 2026. The maximum towing capacity of the bZ4X Touring is 1500 kilograms, and a battery warranty applies up to a vehicle age of ten years or 250,000 kilometers. Toyota will announce further performance data and prices shortly before the market launch.
