The major automotive group Stellantis has appointed its longstanding employee Antonio Filosa as its new boss. Former Stellantis boss Carlos Tavares resigned at the beginning of December due to a dispute over the handling of the US brands within the Group. The selection was made by a committee at management level under the leadership of Executive Chairman John Elkann.
With effect from June 23, the Group Executive Board has given him all the necessary powers for his new role. Filosa is to be officially elected as Managing Director at an Extraordinary General Meeting in the coming days. Until then, John Elkann will manage the business of the multi-brand group, which includes the Peugeot, Citroën, Fiat, Opel, Chrysler, Jeep, and Alfa Romeo brands.
Successes in America
Filosa has worked in the automotive industry for over 25 years and has managed Stellantis in North and South America. Stellantis is also likely to have promoted Filosa because of his successes in America. There, he helped the Fiat brand to market leadership and the Peugeot, Citroën, Ram, and Jeep brands to significant growth, giving Stellantis a leading position in the region. Filosa helped build the Pernambuco plant, one of the largest automotive locations in South America according to Stellantis, and successfully launched the Jeep brand in Brazil.

In 2024, Stellantis promoted him to Chief Operating Officer for the Americas, where, among other things, he succeeded in strengthening the US business and streamlining the organization of agencies and sales.
