Kia XCeed: Base model with lower price, engines with more power
Kia has given the engines in the XCeed a little more power and introduced a new basic specification. This has been significantly trimmed in some areas.
The Kia XCeed has been available since 2019. The current changes are likely to be among the last to benefit this model series.

The XCeed is 3.6 to 4.8 cm higher than the usual Ceed. The XCeed appears to be more popular with customers, as its range of engines and equipment options has been broadened. It is also the only model to benefit from revised engines for the time being. A new base model makes the entry-level model slightly cheaper.
Engines get more power
The XCeed is now available with three petrol engines. A one-liter three-cylinder engine delivers 85 kW and offers 200 Nm of torque. It is specified with 6.4 liters in the WLTP and is only available in conjunction with a six-speed manual gearbox. The factory promises a top speed of 182 km/h and a sprint to 100 km/h in 11.7 seconds. It is astonishing that the rear brake disc is 12 mm smaller in conjunction with the basic equipment. If you combine the three-cylinder with a different line, you get the full 284 mm at the rear axle that all other Kia XCeed models have.

The 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine is always linked to a dual-clutch transmission with seven gears. It is offered with 110 and 132 kW. In the WLTP, Kia states an average of 6.8 liters for both. Despite the 30 hp difference, the driving performance is close, but so is the price, with a difference of just 1000 euros. If such things are elementary for the purchase decision: The EV3 electric car has 150 kW to offer and is officially available from 35,990 euros.

Restrictions at the base
At 26,990, the new basic "Core" variant costs around 1000 euros less than the next level in the hierarchy. However, the steering wheel does not have leather upholstery, the air conditioning does not have automatic transmission, the front passenger seat does not have height adjustment and the center armrest does not have longitudinal adjustment. The alloy wheels are 16-inch instead of 18-inch, the cruise control does not regulate the distance to the vehicle in front on its own and the rear windows have to be cranked into the desired position. Not everything on this list can be retrofitted. Seat heating costs an extra 300 euros, which also includes a heated leather steering wheel. If you really want your XCeed in "Deluxe White Metallic", you also have to buy an equipment line above the basic version.

On the other hand, even the cheapest equipment line comes with things like a reversing camera or a navigation system with long-term update supply and online connection. The seven-year warranty (up to 150,000 km) also remains one of the arguments in favor of the XCeed. The series may be in the autumn of its construction period, but that doesn't make it a bad choice.
