The recent facelift of the Opel Mokka was surprisingly economical. So other incentives are needed to keep the small SUV in the conversation. The platform strategy of the multi-brand alliance Stellantis makes an upgrade comparatively easy. The Opel Mokka GSE gets the drivetrain of the Alfa Romeo Elettrica.

Externally, a few reshaping at the front and rear, yellow brake callipers and planks on the sides with large GSE lettering are needed to distinguish the sports model from the normal models. A wheel and tire combination whose sidewall height has been reduced to an absolute minimum is characteristic. Michelin tires in 225/40 R20 format are fitted all around. In the interior, the Mokka GSE gets sports seats and some Alcantara, plus a display with extended display options.

The engine delivers 206 kW and offers 345 Nm of torque. Despite an unladen weight of around 1.6 tons, the E-SUV should reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.9 seconds. The top speed is only 200 km/h. As there is no provision for all-wheel drive on this platform, the entire power is transmitted via the front wheels alone. Many manufacturers try to master the situation with brake interventions – Stellantis has a Torsen limited slip differential.

The power supply remains unchanged. The battery has a gross capacity of 54 kWh, of which 51 kWh can be used. The maximum charging power is 100 kW. Up to 11 kW of alternating current is possible. At the time of writing, the current price list is dated October 23, 2024, so the GSE is not yet included. Perhaps Opel will take the opportunity to finally include a three-phase charger with 11 kW as standard. If you don't accept a 700 euro surcharge, you can charge on single-phase alternating current with a maximum of 7.4 kW.

Sports seats, some Alcantara and further display options set the GSE apart from the other Mokka models.

That's a bold statement, especially since the Mokka Electric is already comparatively expensive with a base price of 36,740 euros. If Opel sticks to this self-confident calculation, it will probably cost around 50,000 euros, similar to the Alfa Romeo. At this price for a 4.15-meter short E-SUV, the prospective buyer can at least be sure of getting a very exclusive model.

Opel has not yet announced prices for the Mokka GSE. A price of just under 50,000 euros can be expected.
