Stellantis has to order more than 750,000 vehicles of its brands Peugeot, Opel, Citroën, Fiat and DS to the workshop worldwide due to a fire risk caused by gasoline. In Germany, 85,642 cars are affected, most of them naturally from the best-selling brands Opel and Peugeot.

According to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), the reason for the fire risk is the possibility of fuel leaking due to an insufficiently tight connection between the high-pressure line and the rail. Fuel that is forced out can ignite on hot engine parts. The problem is said to have already led to eleven vehicle fires by June 17, 2025, the authority announced.

The KBA has obliged Stellantis to inform those affected directly by letter. In this letter, vehicle owners are advised to visit their garage as soon as possible before continuing to use the vehicle to avoid any possible risk. The repair is straightforward; simply tighten the connections to the correct torque to prevent fuel leaks.
