Honda will start series production of its first electric motorcycle at the end of 2025. It follows on from existing Honda electric scooters and should be available in Europe from the beginning of 2026. The world's largest motorcycle manufacturer already exhibited the prototype at the Eicma in Milan last year. It has now been confirmed that the model will be called the WN7. The name is made up of W for "Be the Wind", N for "Naked" and 7 for the performance class.

The design suggests a distant similarity to Honda's Hornet models, but the two headlights arranged one above the other are a unique selling point. It is intended to instill confidence in the customer with a reasonably familiar appearance.

The WN7 has a permanently installed lithium battery, which should enable a range of at least 130 km. Honda is still keeping quiet about the capacity. The battery is CCS2-compatible and can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes at a DC fast charger. Depending on the temperature, the completely empty battery should be recharged to 100 percent in less than three hours at an AC wallbox.

Two power variants are planned: an 11 kW (15 hp) version for the A1 driving license category, which can be obtained by 16-year-olds and is also available to B196 owners, and an 18 kW (24 hp) version for the A2 category. The figures refer to the continuous output; in the short term, the WN7 even sends 50 kW (68 hp) to the rear wheel via the timing belt. Honda explains that the performance of its electric motorcycle can be compared with that of a 600cc combustion engine motorcycle; the torque delivery would even correspond to that of a 1000cc with 100 Nm. With a weight of 217 kg, decent acceleration values can be expected. The rider sits on an 800 mm high seat.

Honda has also tested the WN7 in Europe and aims to offer "a quiet, smooth, vibration-free and emission-free riding experience". The manufacturer attaches great importance to ensuring that the electric motorcycle also meets the high quality standards and reliability of its products. Features include a five-inch TFT display with RoadSync connectivity and special EV menus, as well as LED lighting technology all round.

The two transparent side covers look interesting. Honda is not stingy when it comes to components either: the brake calipers come from Nissin and the tires are Pirelli Diablo Rosso III. Honda will not be announcing the complete technical data until the Eicma on November 4. At least the price is already known; it is said to be 15,379 euros. Anyone ordering from a dealer before November 4 will receive a pillion bag free of charge.
