Apple Intelligence Bug: Apple explains how to fix problems with the iPhone 17
In some cases, users of Apple's latest mobile phones are unable to install the AI system. Apple is aware of this. There is an initial troubleshooting programme.

Owners of some iPhone 17 models are complaining that they cannot (re)activate Apple Intelligence. This is apparently due to a server error that prevents the necessary support files from being fully downloaded. Without these, however, Apple's AI system cannot be used. The files can be between 7 and 10 GB in size.
First it works, then it doesn't
One affected person reported in Apple's official support forum that Apple Intelligence initially worked for him but then had to “reactivate”—including the announcement that the support files had to be downloaded again. However, this was not done completely: two, the system showed in the system settings that 6.59 GB were installed, but activation did not take place—apparently because the download did not complete. “I've already tried restarting the device, switching the settings on and off again, resetting the network settings, and logging out of my Apple ID and logging back in,” he said.

He went on to say that he was an EU citizen and that the settings were in German. However, Apple Intelligence is regularly available in this country. The service worked for a total of two days and then suddenly stopped working. It was not initially possible to determine how widespread the problem is. However, it appears to be different iPhones of the latest generation. There are reports of at least iPhone 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and Air.
Apple apparently informed
According to information from the official Apple support forum, Apple support has now been informed. They apparently said that Apple is working on an update for the issue. It is apparently not enough to make changes on the server side. However, according to a report from Macrumors, tweaking the network settings can help.
This includes deactivating the mobile phone connection when you are in WLAN, activating and deactivating airplane mode, or changing the language setting, which can apparently trigger a new download attempt. You could also try resetting the network settings or the entire device. However, data will then also be lost. It therefore seems to make more sense to wait for iOS 26.1, which is expected to be released in October. Alternatively, it is also possible that Apple will release a bugfix update 26.0.1.
