Cupra Tavascan Facelift: LFP battery and new infotainment hardware
Volkswagen is rolling out the current MEB upgrade to more brands and models. Now the Cupra Tavascan is benefiting from it in the form of a new base model.

The cooperation between Volkswagen and the American provider Rivian is progressing – initial winter tests in Sweden were successful, according to the group. However, it will be well into 2027 before this is reflected in series models: The ID.1, whose series derivative will likely be called ID.Up, is set to be VW's first car on the new platform. Not even the Volkswagen Group can afford to simply continue the previous platform – and it isn't. It is currently rolling out a major upgrade wave across brands and models, which the Cupra Tavascan is now also benefiting from.
Expansion downwards
The upgrade is already known in terms of content from other group models such as the Cupra Born and the VW ID.3 Neo. The base model gets a new drive, internally called APP350. It delivers 140Â kW and offers 350Â Nm of torque. It is said to be more efficient than the predecessor APP310. In the Tavascan, the WLTP range is specified as 435Â km. The LFP battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 26 minutes. This means the average charging power remains close to the peak over a wide range, which is 105Â kW on direct current. The versions with the 210- and 250Â kW drives remain on offer.

Interior with new infotainment
The interior has also been tidied up, although Volkswagen goes into the details to varying degrees. The Tavascan gets the new large instrument cluster and buttons on the steering wheel instead of touch surfaces, but not separate switches for the rear window lifts. The infotainment system gets fresh hardware and software. Since both are interdependent, the previous models will not be updated to the latest software version. This does not mean that older vehicles will no longer receive updates, just that they will not be updated to Level 6.0.

)Therefore, it can be assumed that some features will be reserved for the new models. This likely includes the ability to use smart mobile phones, and probably certain watches, as keys. One-pedal driving, now possible, might also only be available for Tavascan models with software from 6.0 onwards. Sennheiser contributes an improved sound system that fills the interior "with exceptional clarity and depth."
Base model likely under 50,000 Euros
The current price list from October 2025 starts at 53,340Â Euros for the rear-wheel drive model with 210Â kW. Prices for the revised version are not yet available, but we expect the new base model with 140Â kW to be offered for less than 50,000Â Euros. Pre-production has already begun, and deliveries are expected to start in the summer.
