VW: Base model of the ID.3 becomes cheaper – temporarily

Volkswagen must do something: The Group is one of the few to narrowly miss its individual CO₂ reduction target in the first half of 2024. Instead of 121, the average was 123 grams of CO₂/km. Added to this is poor capacity utilization in production. These are two reasons why the price of the ID.3 base model will fall to below 30,000 euros from October 1 at least until the end of the year. At the same time, the other ID.3 prices will also fall significantly.

Pure for 29,790 euros

The price reduction for the "Pure" base model, which has only been available again since this year, is being implemented in two stages. Firstly, the discount that was previously deducted in the configurator will become the new standard. This lowers the price to 33,330  euros. For the base model, there will be an additional 3570 euro discount until the end of the year, bringing the price to 29,760 euro.

The base model has a 52 kWh battery that can be charged with a maximum of 145 kW. Two-phase alternating current of up to 7.2 kW is possible. A heat pump for more efficient heating in winter costs 990 euros extra. Many other extras are combined in packages that can quickly make the ID.3 significantly more expensive.

By the end of August, 15,114 ID.3s had been sold in Germany this year. This means that the former beacon of hope has not even achieved a quarter of the registration figures of the car it was supposed to succeed, as 70,070 Golf models were registered for the first time during this period. At least the ID.3 can claim one internal success: It is just ahead of the ID.4/ID.5 in terms of popularity among buyers who want a battery-electric VW, of which VW was able to sell 13,214.
