Whichever way you look at it, the practical high-roof station wagons are not bestsellers. In the first seven months, Opel and Citroën together sold fewer Combo and Berlingo models in Germany than Renault sold with the Kangoo alone. Of the 3353 Kangoo sold, however, just 277 had a battery-electric drive. To increase this share, Renault has lowered the prices for the Kangoo E-Tech Electric – and significantly so.

Depending on the model, the high-roof estate costs between 3450 and 3550 euros less than before. The base model now costs 35,850 euros. The longer Grand Kangoo, including better equipment, is available from 40,250 euros. The seven-inch driver's display, a multimedia system and adaptive cruise control are now included as standard.

The drivetrain and battery are identical in all models. A synchronous electric motor with 90 kW and 245 Nm drives the front wheels. The top speed is limited to 135 or 130 km/h in the Grand Kangoo. Renault is also rather tight on storage capacity, which at 45 kWh is likely to limit the real range to just over 200 km on an annual average. In the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light-Duty Vehicles Test Procedure), Renault specifies between 265 and 285 km. Consumption in the cycle should be 20.2 or 21.5 kWh/100 km.

Five versions are listed in the current price list. The basic model can only be charged with alternating current and with a maximum of 11 kW. This is only offered for the short Kangoo, which measures 4.49 m. For the majority of customers, this restriction on charging is unlikely to be acceptable, even if long distances are the exception in many driving profiles. All other variants are equipped with a 22 kW AC charger and an 80 kW DC charger as standard. The Renault charges significantly faster on AC than an Opel Combo Electric, but slightly slower on DC. What remains is a significant difference to the basic model with a combustion engine. A Kangoo with a petrol engine is currently officially available from 26,900 euros, and offers on the major car exchanges start at a further 5000 euros below this.
