Apple Intelligence: Hardware improvements expected for the "iPhone SE 4"
Apple's new entry-level phone is due to be released in 2025. The device should be ready for Apple Intelligence. This is good news for the hardware.

The rumor mill is pretty sure that Apple will introduce a new iPhone SE model next year - after a total wait of three years. The fact that it will be compatible with Apple Intelligence could ensure that the hardware is better equipped than can be expected from a "normal" entry-level iPhone. This is reported by Macrumors.
AI: It's all about the RAM
iPhones currently have slightly less RAM than Android devices, for example. Some of the work is shifted to the very fast SSD. However, Apple Intelligence requires at least 8 GB of RAM: the language models that run on some of the devices need space. However, Apple recently only installed 4 GB of RAM in the SE 3 from 2022. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus also have 6 GB; these are also not compatible with Apple Intelligence. iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, on the other hand, also have 8 GB of RAM in addition to the current A17 Pro chip.
As Macrumors now reports, it is "likely" that the iPhone SE 4 - or SE 2025 - will also be equipped with 8 GB, as Apple wants to give all new devices Apple Intelligence. This is also likely to apply to the iPhone 16 standard models (16 and 16 Plus), which are expected in September. The iPhone SE 4 is currently expected to be released in March or April - in May at the latest. The hardware is expected to be a mixture of the iPhone 16 interior and iPhone 14 look, including the notch. Apple would finally bury the home button and switch all devices to facial recognition (Face ID).
SE 4 better than iPhone 15 and 15 Plus
As the iPhone SE always remains in the range for several years, Apple tries to install an up-to-date interior, even if the casing is based on an old device for reasons of economy (both hardware and production costs). Accordingly, the iPhone SE 4 could be an attractive device if you don't necessarily want the latest iPhone look. The iPhone SE 3 is currently based on the iPhone 7 from 2016.
The well-known - and often accurate - Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman also believes that Apple Intelligence will make it to the iPhone SE 4: "[You] can bet on it." However, it is likely to be confusing for many users that a cheaper entry-level model (presumably for around 530 euros) will then be able to do more than the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. However, Apple is likely to continue to have both devices in its range in the coming year, at least this is usually the case.
