Cisco: AirPlay for Teams Rooms and better Vision Pro support for WebEx
Cisco will better support Apple hardware with its WebEx and Teams solution in future. It's all about local streaming and spatial computing.

Cisco's video conferencing solution WebEx is getting a range of new features for Apple users. In future, it will be easier to share content from devices. Spatial computing support for WebEx for Vision Pro users will also be generally released, which was not previously in general availability in connection with Cisco hardware, according to the company.
Streaming from all kinds of Apple gadgets
Anyone with Cisco hardware in their conference room can now use AirPlay in conjunction with Microsoft Teams Rooms for the first time. Wireless sharing of content works from iPhone, iPad and Mac. All you have to do is select the Cisco device as the receiver and the remote station sees what the user sees –, as we know from various other AirPlay receivers such as the Apple TV.

Cisco Spatial Meetings are another new feature. These were already available for selected WebEx customers, but have now been released for all users. The feature is initially intended for the Cisco Room Bar Pro. Users with a Vision Pro can then transform "any room into an immersive studio". To do this, the official WebEx app, which has been available since last year, must be running on the Apple headset. This also allows the use of the virtual Vision Pro personas avatars, as it is known that there is no camera that captures the Vision Pro user themselves in the overall picture.
Cisco is not just WebEx
The new developments show that Cisco is still trying to be identified as more than just the WebEx parent company. The Microsoft Teams Rooms support is intended to help tap into new target groups that have long been using the Microsoft suite in their day-to-day work and do not want to switch to WebEx for conferences. With the Cisco device and AirPlay support, Apple devices can now also be integrated more easily into this workflow without users having to have Teams on the device and present as their "own user" – but as a person present in the room.
Apple had recently tried to place the Vision Pro more strongly in the enterprise market. The device, which costs at least €4,000 in Europe, is being used at Porsche and numerous other large companies, at least on an experimental basis.
